AFK Christmas Raffle Rules

General Rules

  1. This Raffle is only open to residents of the UK over the age of 18 (this excludes Isle of Man, Channel Islands and BFPO addresses according to Gambling Act 2005 regulations).
  2. No tickets can be sold to, on behalf of, or for a person under the age of 18 years.
  3. The cost of each entry is £1. Players may purchase more than one entry, and payment must be in advance.
  4. If a ticket is sold unknowingly to, on behalf of, or for a person under the age of 18 he/she will be exempt from the raffle and will forfeit his/her prize and the stake will be returned.
  5. All profits from the Christmas Raffle go to AFK. Details of the work of AFK can be found on our main charity website https://www.afkcharity.org/
  6. The prizes for the AFK Christmas Raffle are 1st £500, 2nd £100, 3rd £50. The charity may make changes to the prizes from time to time. There are no alternatives to any prize.
  7. The Christmas Raffle Draw will be conducted on 6 February 2025. The draw will be conducted by utilising a Random Number Generator that has been tested and approved by an independent, Gambling Commission third party test house. The results of the draw are final.
  8. Based upon the number of entries in our 2023 Raffles, the chance of winning a prize for a single ticket was 1 in 8386.
  9. From the £75,447 income of all tickets sold in the raffle in 2023, just 18.26% went on expenses, 2.58% on prizes and a fantastic 79.16% came back to AFK to fund our important work.
  10. Postal entries must be received by 30 January 2025. The Online close date is 30 January 2025.
  11. Late entries will be treated as donations.
  12. Winners will be notified in writing and prizes will be sent within three weeks. Raffle winners will be sent their winnings by cheque in the post once contact has been made. Please keep your ticket number as proof of purchase.
  13. A list of winning numbers will also be published here within two weeks of the draw date. 
  14. Winners may be asked to take part in AFK PR and promotional activity.
  15. AFK will endeavour to contact winners by telephone, and then in writing. If no contact is made, the unclaimed prize is held until the next raffle opens. Once this deadline has passed and a new raffle is open, the unclaimed prize may be treated as AFK sees fit, and it may be returned to the raffle fund.

  17. AFK operates a Fundraising complaints process. If you have complaint you can ring our Supporter Services team on 020 8347 8111. If you are unhappy with the way a complaint is resolved you can contact the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS). IBAS acts as an impartial adjudicator on disputes that arise between betting/gambling operators and their customers.
  18. AFK accepts no responsibility for raffle tickets which are lost, damaged, illegible, or from which the prize-winner cannot be identified, or for any technical failure or event which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted. No responsibility is taken for raffle tickets and payment lost, delayed, or damaged in the post and proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of receipt. AFK accepts no responsibility if chosen method of payment is cancelled in error.
  19. AFK reserves the right to disqualify any entry at their absolute discretion. 

Online entries

  1. To enter the online raffle an entrant must self-certify that they are the required age to play. A confirmation email will be sent to the entrant confirming their numbers in the draw and thanking them for their participation. Random age verification checks are carried out at regular intervals. If an entrant is found to be under the required age their payment will be returned and they will not be entered into the draw
  2. Entries must not be bought on behalf of somebody else.
  3. In order to promote responsible gambling, it is recommended that no more than 60 chances are to be purchased per person for the Spring Raffle.
  4. Material changes to this raffle are not predicted to happen, but in the event that this occurs you will be notified by email 14 days in advance of any changes.

Fast entry draw 

  1. Supporters can enter the Fast Entry Draw by returning their completed response form in the return address envelope provided in their postal pack, or by entering online or by telephone by 27 December 2024
  2. The prizes in the fast entry draw are 5 x £20 M&S Vouchers
  3. We operate a combined online/offline draw ensuring that each entrant has an equal chance of winning each prize. The draw will be conducted by utilising a Random Number Generator that has been tested and approved by an independent, Gambling Commission approved, third party test house in combination with a blind draw in plain sight of staff. The results of the draw are final
  4. Winners will be notified by post, email or telephone no later than two weeks after the draw date
  5. A list of winners will also be published on the website within two weeks of the draw date. These will only be in summary, for example Mrs Smith from Berkshire
  6. If a prize is unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made by AFK to contact the winner, then AFK will be entitled to dispose of the prize as it thinks fit. The winner has 30 calendar days after notification to claim the prize.

Responsible gambling

Self Exclusion: On request we will put a block on supporters’ records to exclude themselves from our raffle mailings. This block will remain unless we are asked by the individual to remove it. A complaints procedure is in place to deal with any issues in a clear and procedural way. 

Privacy

We do not capture the personal information recorded on your raffle ticket stubs. This information is used by AFK to contact you if you hold a winning ticket.
